Thank you for being part of our growing ecosystem

I created Engagement Fundraising and invented our software because I’m really a donor, not a fundraiser. In fact, I have never been a fundraiser according to Webster’s definition as a noun. Rather, I am really just a marketer. This firm was originally an ad agency/marketing firm. Although, some (fundraisers) might say I’m also a major donor while some others know that I am a legacy donor too.
Simply stated: I see everything from the donor’s perspective first.
I can’t avoid that perspective. And I have implored fundraisers to start donating more so they could see how it feels to:

  • have their name, address, and email sold to other nonprofits almost immediately;
  • get tons of irrelevant spam and junk mail;
  • receive impersonal yet relentless requests for money;
  • etc.

It is my contention that too few fundraisers actually donate and that’s part of the reason why so many continue to offend their supporters. That’s why donor retention rates are still in the toilet (just 17% of new donors who are giving less than $100 give again).

That’s also why some people like my blog (and why some don’t).
Thank YOU for putting up with my diatribes and rants.
Thank YOU for challenging me from time to time.
Thank YOU for sharing my infographics, for participating in my webinars, and for downloading my ebooks.
Thank YOU for being part of my little ecosystem.

MarketSmart grew substantially in 2015.
Thanks to people like you we more than doubled the number of organizations we serve while we only lost one client (and, honestly, they were not a good fit for us anyway).
Thanks to people like you we won a great award from SCORE, the Service Corps of Retired Executives (over 10,000 retired CEO mentors).
Thanks to people like you we were featured in the Washington Post.

Thank YOU for being part of our little eco-system. We have some amazing new innovations up our sleeve for 2016. So hold onto your hats. Things are gonna’ get really wild!
