8 simple ideas to involve your donors and build deeper connections

L.M. Montgomery was a famous author in the early 1900’s. Her novels were internationally renowned.  She once said, “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.”
This is so true. Involvement is one of the best ways to build seriously deep connections.  It can mean the difference between no gift and the ultimate gift. There are millions of ways you can do this.

Here are eight of them:

  1. Be transparent and give them access with a personal tour
  2. Help them meet your staff, your volunteers, and the folks that benefit from their donations
  3. Write them a personal letter
  4. Ask a beneficiary to write them a letter (such as a child who received a healthy meal from your homeless shelter)
  5. Reach out personally on social media
  6. Conduct a webinar
  7. Send them pictures or videos showing them the results of their support
  8. Invite them to volunteer

….the list goes on and on.  How are you involving your most valuable donors?
