Smartideas

Do you have a job or do you have a mission?

“I was on a mission from God.”

I met John the first year I started working in major gifts.

John was a retired financial advisor who earned a 7-figure income for more than a decade.

At the first breakfast we went to he described how he went about his work.

He had 2 breakfasts and 2 lunches every day with clients and prospects.

He hired a driver so that he could make calls to schedule meetings while he was traveling between meetings.

He focused on working with high-income earners and wanted to make sure they took care of their families and didn’t just blow all of their income like many people do.

He wasn’t doing all of this work primarily for an income, but because he believed he was called to this work and his clients needed this type of help.

If someone can bring that level of intensity to being a financial advisor, how much more could I bring to my work?

That’s a question I started to ask myself to increase my activity and my drive.

Are you just getting a paycheck?

Or are you on a mission from God?
