4 Tips to Help You Ask for Advice to Get Money

Last year, The Fundraising Coach (Marc Pittman) wrote a brilliant post on his blog.  Here’s a synopsis:
If you ask people for advice, they’ll give you money. 
If you ask people for money, they’ll give you advice.
Ask for advice but:
1. Be genuine and sincere; no strings attached
2. Acknowledge that their time is valuable
3. Personalize your request and be specific (ask for advice from the people that can truly help in specific areas)
4. Be conscientious of their time
