If you ask people for money, they’ll give you advice.
Ask for advice but:

2. Acknowledge that their time is valuable
3. Personalize your request and be specific (ask for advice from the people that can truly help in specific areas)
4. Be conscientious of their time

So true…I’ve always tried to ASK for something first, other than a money gift… their advice, a piece of artwork to hang in the lobby, a short amount of time doing something they are good at… it’s called friendship with your donors!
We should call it “friendraising” not fundraising!
