Dividing the “might consider” stage into two unique consideration stages

Where we were

Our Dashboard scoring algorithm grouped two deferred qualification responses (“Not now, but in the future I would definitely be interested” and “Not now, but in the future I might possibly be interested”) into one consideration stage, might consider

What’s changed and why?

Over the years, you’ve made it clear that it would be more useful if the “might consider” stage was divided into two unique considerations. The main reason for this request has been that these two groups of supporters are in different stages of their donor journeys and should be treated as such. You also let us know that this split will help you in your follow-up and cultivation efforts.

How does this affect me?

In a few weeks, you’ll notice there are now five consideration stages in your Dashboard:

  • Left a gift
  • Interested (previously Considering)
  • Definitely consider
  • Possibly consider
  • Will not consider

You can expect that some leads scores may change slightly. See something that doesn’t look quite right? Let us know by using the chat tool in the bottom right side of the Dashboard or email us at dashboard@imarketsmart.com.

Using our API?

The API will be backwards compatible with the old legacy consideration stages until April 2020. On May 1, 2020 our API will no longer accept our old legacy consideration stages and will only return an error if they are used. Please plan for compatibility with the new consideration stages by April 2020.

If you would like to pull the new considerations (interested, definitely consider and possibly consider) into your CRM, they may refer to our documentation. Once your team has reviewed the updated documentation, you may request a call with our Engineering team by emailing dashboard@imarketsmart.com.

Thank you so much, Elizabeth. I think this is wise. I’m guessing few people would want to check the box that says “Will not consider.” Just to be polite, some would check, “Might consider.” This would leave the door open, even if they are not so inclined at the moment. By breaking this down into “Definitely consider” and “Possibly consider,” it allows the respondent to still offer a polite response (“I’m not ruling it out”), but to be more specific as to the actual likelihood of such a gift.
