About the Presenter:
Melissa Brown, CFRE
Melissa S. Brown helps charities turn knowledge into action. Her consulting services range from literature reviews to survey design and reports. Major projects include the Nonprofit Research Collaborative, a twice-annual survey to assess what works in fundraising. She teaches for The Fund Raising School and presents both online and in person. She also volunteers with AFP Research Council, Association of Philanthropic Counsel, and Giving USA Advisory Council on Methodology.
Before founding Melissa S. Brown & Associates in 2011, Melissa worked at the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, where she edited Giving USA. She studied at Reed College and the University of Pennsylvania.
In addition to research and writing, Melissa enjoys gardening, with an emphasis on native, tall-grass prairie species and bird watching. In her dreams, she travels to Costa Rica, where it never rains and every bird she sees poses for a perfect photo.
