Stop puffing out your chests… the donor is awesome— not you.

Too many nonprofits are too focused on themselves.
“Look at us!” “Here’s what we did.” “Aren’t we great?!?”  “Now give us some money to do more great stuff!”
When you boil it all down to the simplest concept… it’s all about humility and empowerment.  Remember this:

1- People don’t like braggers.

2- People want to give to your organization because you make them feel good about helping.

So go ahead… give them the power to feel good.  Allow the donor to be the hero in the story.   Say things like, “Thanks to you…” and “Your donations did _________.
Be humble.
